Computer Repair Technician
Location: Swindon
Hours: 9:00am to 5:00pm, Monday to Friday
Salary: £12.71
Job Type: Full-Time, Temp to Perm (Perm after 12 weeks for the right candidates)
About the Role
Gap Personnel Swindon are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Computer Repair Technician to join our clients busy Service Centre team. The successful candidate will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, testing, and processing customer devices while ensuring high standards of quality, accuracy, and productivity.
This is an excellent opportunity for an individual with strong technical skills and a passion for technology who enjoys working in a fast-paced repair environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Inspect devices requiring repair on a first-come, first-served basis.
- Perform comprehensive hardware and software diagnostics using all available testing tools and scripts.
- Accurately identify faults and determine appropriate repair solutions.
- Request required replacement parts and materials from the designated person within the business.
- Carefully install replacement parts and components.
- Verify that all replacement parts are safe, functional, and operating as intended.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records within the company's CRM system throughout the repair process.
- Record details of parts used and any relevant service notes on each repair job.
- Forward repaired devices to the Quality Control department for final testing and approval.
- Achieve the company's target of completing an average of two repairs per hour.
- Communicate promptly with the Service Centre Manager regarding any challenges or obstacles that may impact productivity targets.
- Maintain a clean, organised, and controlled working environment at all times.
Skills and Experience
The ideal candidate will have:
- Experience repairing computers, laptops, and electronic devices.
- Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills.
- Good understanding of computer hardware and software systems.
- Attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
- Ability to work efficiently in a target-driven environment.
- Strong organisational and record-keeping skills.
- Competent use of CRM or service management systems.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- A proactive and positive attitude towards problem-solving.
