Manufacturing Estimator / Account Manager
Plymouth | Up to £35,000 depending on experience
Full-time or part-time hours considered | On-site

Can you look at an engineering drawing and understand what it will take to bring it to life?

We’re recruiting for a well-established engineering and manufacturing business in Plymouth, looking for a Manufacturing Estimator / Account Manager who can combine technical knowledge, accurate costing and great customer relationships.

If you enjoy understanding how things are made, finding practical solutions and working directly with customers, this is an opportunity to put those strengths to work in a varied, commercially focused role.

The opportunity

You’ll support customers from their initial enquiry through to quotation, translating drawings and specifications into accurate, competitive proposals.

That means getting into the detail of materials, labour and manufacturing processes, while working closely with engineering and production colleagues to ensure the proposed solution can be delivered.

Alongside estimating, you’ll become a trusted point of contact for customers, understanding their requirements, resolving queries and identifying opportunities to develop existing accounts.

What you’ll be doing

  • Reviewing engineering drawings, specifications and customer requirements.
  • Preparing detailed cost estimates for manufactured components and assemblies.
  • Producing quotations and responding to Requests for Quotation (RFQs).
  • Assessing material, labour and production requirements to build commercially viable proposals.
  • Liaising with customers to clarify technical details and keep enquiries moving.
  • Working with engineering, production and commercial teams to confirm manufacturing feasibility.
  • Building strong customer relationships and identifying further business opportunities.
  • Contributing to value engineering and cost improvement discussions.

What you’ll bring

You’ll have experience in manufacturing estimating within an engineering environment, with a practical understanding of fabrication, machining or mechanical engineering processes.

You’ll be comfortable interpreting engineering drawings and explaining technical information clearly to customers and colleagues. Just as importantly, you’ll understand how manufacturing costs are built and take pride in producing accurate, well-considered quotations.

We’re looking for someone with:

  • Experience preparing manufacturing estimates, quotations and RFQ responses.
  • Strong attention to detail and commercial awareness.
  • Confident communication and customer relationship skills.
  • A collaborative approach to solving problems.
  • An interest in both the technical and customer-facing sides of manufacturing.

What’s on offer

  • Salary up to £35,000 per annum, depending on experience.
  • Full-time or part-time hours considered.
  • A varied role combining engineering knowledge, estimating and account management.
  • The opportunity to make a visible contribution within an established manufacturing business.
  • Company pension.
  • Free on-site parking.
