Financial Controller
Location: Devon
Salary: £65,000 per annum
Are you an experienced Financial Controller or Finance Manager ready to take ownership of a finance function within manufacturing?
We’re recruiting a commercially minded Financial Controller for a manufacturing business in Devon. You’ll play a key role in financial management, working closely with senior management and operational teams to improve performance, strengthen controls and support business decisions.
This position would suit someone who enjoys understanding how a business operates, identifying opportunities for improvement and translating financial information into practical advice.
What you’ll be doing
- Overseeing day-to-day financial management and maintaining effective financial controls.
- Producing accurate management accounts and delivering the month-end process.
- Managing budgets, forecasts and cash flow.
- Analysing costs, margins and financial performance, highlighting risks and opportunities.
- Working with operational teams on manufacturing costs, stock valuation and variance analysis.
- Improving financial systems, reporting and processes.
- Supporting business planning and investment decisions.
- Coordinating year-end reporting and liaising with external accountants and auditors.
What we’re looking for
- Experience as a Financial Controller, Finance Manager or in a similar senior finance position.
- Previous experience within manufacturing and a good understanding of stock, costing and operational finance.
- Strong management accounting, budgeting and forecasting skills.
- Excellent analytical skills, attention to detail and confidence using Excel and financial systems.
- The ability to communicate clearly and build relationships across the business.
- A proactive, hands-on approach and confidence taking ownership.
ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualification would be advantageous; relevant experience will also be considered.
