Monday – Friday/8am – 5pm

Our client based in Wrexham is looking for a Development Chef to join their team on a permanent basis. We are looking for an enthusiastic Development Chef to join our client’s growing team and play an important role in their continued success and development.  This is a hands-on, creative and varied role that offers the opportunity to work across multiple areas of the business, including sales, marketing, supply chain and new product development.  It’s an exciting opportunity for a Chef who wants to use their experience and creativity in a fast-paced commercial environment, while continuing to develop their career.  Due to the exciting and varied nature of the role, there will occasionally be a requirement to work at weekends, travel early in the morning or return later in the evening when visiting customers, attending events or supporting exhibitions.  Overnight stays around the UK and occasional overseas travel will also form part of the role.

 

Performance Objectives

·        Working alongside an experienced team of Development Chefs, you will be involved in a wide variety of projects and activities. No two days will be the same.

·        Managing sample system, including sample ordering and maintaining stock levels.

·        Gathering valuable customer and end-user feedback through phone calls and emails, helping to continually improve products and service. Full training will be provided.

·        Creating exciting menu ideas and concepts for customer meetings, presentations and product development.

·        Researching and sourcing high-quality produce and ingredients to support new menu concepts and product ideas.

·        Supporting trade shows and national exhibitions, with opportunities to travel across the UK and occasionally overseas.

·        Working alongside the sales team, providing culinary support during customer cook-ups and demonstrations.

·        Preparing and cooking products within the development kitchen, as well as travelling to customers’ sites to support presentations and demonstrations.

·        Contributing creative ideas to new product development and menu innovation.

·        Maintaining excellent standards of kitchen cleanliness, organisation and food safety.

·        Working closely with colleagues across the business to understand how products move from concept and development through to the customer.

 

Person Specification

·        Someone who is passionate about food and excited by the opportunity to take their career in a new direction.

·        Proven professional chef experience.

·        A genuine passion for food, cooking and product development.

·        A creative approach and the ability to develop exciting menu and product ideas.

·        A positive “can-do” attitude and willingness to get stuck in.

·        Excellent teamwork and communication skills.

·        Confidence working with customers and other members of the business.

·        A full UK driving licence.

·        A valid passport, as occasional overseas travel may be required.

·        Basic IT skills and confidence using computers. Training on the CRM system will be provided.

·        Flexibility to travel and occasionally work outside normal business hours when required.
